DESIGNER

“Some sort of pressure must exist; the artist exists because the world is not perfect. Art would be useless if the world were perfect, as a man wouldn’t look for harmony but would simply live in it. Art is born out of an ill-designed world.”

― Andrei Tarkovsky, Russian-Soviet Filmmaker

THE DESIGNER ARCHETYPE

The designer is a creator, driven to build and express a world not bound by what is but what could be. Often multidisciplinary, the Designer has an artistic skillset to manifest. Designer strives with passionate labour dedicated to expression and originality.
Often the biggest growth blocks are linked to execution and transactional consistency in business.

Designers are exploring the answers to the human need to feel, witness and belong. The Designer’s creation taps into endless potential and a larger vision, revealing many perspectives and dimensions of creativity and expression.

“Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of Art. Making money is Art. Working is Art. And good business is the best Art.”

–Andy Warhol

You are familiar with the doubts, the roadblocks and the moments of procrastination. Sometimes the focus is lost, and you are all over the place.
By default, your creativity is connected to an active and rich internal world. This is the two-edged sword that can be your friend or the biggest enemy. For a Designer, uncertainty is a factor that is more often than not present in their career. Progression is hardly steady and stable.

Omega Leader coaching for Designers comes with special emphasis on understanding the opportunity to grow based on high performance and Flow. When this workflow is decluttered, we move to upgrade the transactional business mindset.

The Designer has the capability to create a compelling vision where their WHY is inspiring and clear. The question is more about HOW and WHEN. Omega Leader coaching is here to help you raise and succeed on this visionary level with consistency and focus.

The industry of “No”

The creative sector is harsh; the competition is huge and real success is about staying and delivering consistently on the top.

The creative industry is an endless motion of pitching and rejection. Without the needed grit and focus, Designer can end up lost and exhausted after all the slammed doors. Accordingly, in addition to stamina and resilience, the Designer needs a smart strategy, special focus in business mindset and an endless hunger to develop and re-discover themselves.

One of the classic Designer challenges is the lone wolf syndrome. While designers can see far and align to the growth trajectory, creativity alone is not enough. Growth requires building a business plan, a complimenting team and a new standard where the specialist solopreneur is graduating into the leader and owner skill set. To grow and manifest this mindset requires connecting the dots between personal and professional leadership standards in a new way.

"We have always thought about design as being so much more than just the way something looks.
It's the whole thing: the way something works on so many different levels. Ultimately, of course, design defines so much of our experience."

– Sir Jony Ive, ex-Chief Designer Officer at Apple

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

DESIGNER
STRENGTHS

Creativity and Curiosity

Creativity is to do things in a new and better way. By their intuitive and solution-driven nature, the Designer explores and embraces different worlds driven by curiosity. Connecting the dots between creativity and curiosity makes the Designers see further than most.

Elegance

For a Designer, symmetry, seduction, sustainability, and subtraction in expression are ways of achieving the appropriate balance in aesthetics and elegance in their chosen medium.

Ahead of the curve

Align with the future and be on the pulse. Stay relevant. As an innovator and early adopter, the Designer is a purveyor of the current trends, keeping one tab always on what is in, what is out, and what is still to come.

DESIGNER
WEAKNESSES

Lack of focus, lack of consistency

Due to their vivid inner world and the builder archetype, Designers are often stuck in the process of thought, planning, and envisioning. Sometimes this is linked to soul searching and questions around their own identity. To succeed, the Designer needs to put special emphasis on the output and execution. The Designer must focus on developing consistency and powerful execution.

Sensitivity

Designers are often deep thinkers resulting from high emotional intelligence. This ability enables access to the realm of emotions and leaving the audience's jaws hanging on the floor. Yet, at the same time, high emotional intelligence and sensitivity have the risk to result in over-analyzing, emotional exhaustion and anxiety, or depression.

Lack of Transactional Execution

The answer is rather apparent if you ask a Designer to point which is more appealing: the inspiration and flow of their creative work or the cash flow management and sales.
Designers tend to overthink. This behaviour often blocks the transactional flow in the business. Growth and success in business require both uncluttering the flow, new skills in delegating, and building new standards and allies in the area of money and wealth. The journey takes the Designer from resourcefulness to resources.

CONCLUSION

You are tasked to impact millions and to make it happen!

As a Designer, you have all that it takes to create a bold vision with abundance and success. It is more about “How” and “When” than anything else. You must step into the true version of yourself and raise your standards and performance to meet this visionary level.

Eventually, it’s only two things keeping you at bay: Your Fears and Your Beliefs.

Change requires another. You are probably already familiar with the necessity to invest in the right coaches, mentors and finding access to the elevating communities that challenge you to grow more.
